Young Photographer Workshop - Bangalore
Young Photographer Workshop
22-26 May, 2012
WORKSHOP SYNOPSIS
Have you given your child the power to see their future with their own lens?
As with a bird after a worm, an early exposure to a varied array of skills and experiences can be crucial in your child's quest for their life's love. At the very least, a new skill can develop into a hobby, engaging your child's interest, stimulating their cognition, stoking their creativity and even paving the way for a future of verve and creativity.
At Toehold, the importance of this is not lost on us. Hence we bring to you the Young Photographer Workshop for children in the age group of 8 to 16, specially crafted for growing minds.
Starting with the basics of Digital Photography and camera handling, this Workshop will go beyond technicalities. It will train your child's creative eye to picture the myriad riches in the world, and arm them with the power of self-expression.
What's better, far removed from the pedantic banality of school, this Workshop embodies fun and interaction in a milieu of informality and creativity as its existential principles, and includes both classroom and outdoor sessions under the riotous tutelage of prodigious young photographer, Phillip Ross.
All of 24 years old and already a master lens-man, Phillip is also the biggest hit with children since Robin Williams. Patient, warm, humorous and full of beans, he makes learning an experience to savour rather than scamper to eschew.
Gift your child this Workshop, so they may paint their way with light to a picturesque future.

ABOUT THE MENTOR
Phillip Ross
Phillip Ross is without doubt the 'little master' of wildlife photography. Still in his early twenties and already boasting an astounding portfolio, Phillip exudes the same precocity and talent as the big cats he is famously known to share a special relationship with. When out in the wild, Lady Luck is his faithful friend, and back in the civilized world, captivating stories of his experiences are a staple source of fascination for those who enjoy the pleasure of his acquaintance.
An avid angler, great raconteur and naturalist par excellence, Phillip uses his passion for wildlife to spread the joy of nature through his infectious ways to adults and children alike. Having explored wilderness areas throughout India as a photographer and naturalist, Phillip has won many laurels, including a Wildlife Conservation Award in 2009 for his report on saving the Bannerghatta National Park. And courtesy of his skill, imagination and technical mastery, his work has been used in various magazines, newspapers, journals and calendars for embellishment and education through his incisive lens.

When I sent my child to this workshop, I half expected it to be just a different weekend, but how wrong I was! Neeraj has returned with a new zeal to not only use his camera but use it intelligently, to take much better pictures than I myself have managed so far!

My daughter has always been a creative person with a preference for the visual arts, so I enrolled her to the Toehold Workshop as there were no photography classes at school, and it now looks like it was the best thing I did! Not only does she say she had a whale of a time learning photography, but also she has all her friends and cousins charmed with her skilful use of her camera!

This has been a great decision I made as it helps me take my son along with my photo shoots. He is now aware of what I do behind the camera and hopefully one day he will take better pictures than what I have been doing. Thanks Toehold to make this father son company more interesting.
