What does this Workshop offer?

This advanced two-day photography-workshop is designed to help you learn the nuances of shooting and the best techniques to use artificial, external lights and other accessories to illuminate your subject of photography in various creative ways. You will learn how best to use speedlights/flashes, strobes, reflectors, soft boxes, triggers, gels, external lights and other lighting accessories. This is especially useful for genres like product, fashion, street, travel and portrait photography.

It is, however, imperative that you know the basic and advanced concepts of photography (autofocus, manual mode, aperture, shutter speed, ISO etc.) to make the best use of this two-day Workshop. Workshop Schedule

DAY 1: SATURDAY

Introduction to the Workshop; understanding lights and accessories

Theoretical discussion about cameras, lenses, basics of exposure and modes of shooting with different lighting gear. We also discuss why and how different lights and accessories are used, the logic behind their settings and usage, and the different types of lighting setups.
DAY 2: SUNDAY

Practical lessons in a studio to understand theoretical concepts thoroughly

In a studio nearby, we will have practical, hands-on sessions with each of the accessories discussed the previous day. We will have a live subject to shoot, and learn lighting types including directional light and multi-light setups. We will learn image options and how focal length impacts portraits.

This is followed by a session on post-processing images on Adobe Lightroom, during which we learn how to improve and enhance images for better impact.

Recapitulation of cameras, lenses, basics of exposure and shooting modes with different lighting gear, usage of different lights and accessories, the logic behind different settings, and the different lighting setups.

Cancellation Policy

In the unfortunate event that you wish to cancel your booking after the payment, you will receive a credit note that can be used to avail of any of our services listed on our website, for:

  • 100% of the amount if you cancel on or before the last Monday before the Workshop.
  • 50% of the amount if you cancel between the last Monday and Thursday before the Workshop.

No credit note will be issued for cancelling after the last Thursday before the Workshop or for failing to attend the Workshop without prior intimation, and no cash refunds will be made under any circumstances.

I am a complete beginner who is interested in lighting with no prior knowledge. How is this Workshop useful for me?

We believe this Workshop is best for you if your basics of photography are sound. Therefore, if you’re not conversant with the basics of photography yet, we recommend you consider joining our Art and Science of Photography Workshop first. This Lighting Workshop helps you understand how to overcome low-light challenges using external lights, to thus create interesting, creative images that wouldn’t be possible otherwise.

What genres of photography does this Workshop focus on?

By making the best use of external sources of light to play with natural light and shadows, you can make great portraits. You can also make evocative product, travel, wedding, fashion photographs. It is sometimes helpful even in landscape photography.

What equipment do I need to bring to this Workshop?

Camera and lenses. You can also bring any lighting accessories if you own them.

I don’t own the equipment that might be required. What do I do?

In order to make the most out of the Workshop, we recommend you bring along a camera and lenses. If you do not own any, you can hire the necessary equipment from our Camera Rent Store for the two days. Please talk to us for details.

Are there going to be indoor/outdoor/practical activities to learn certain concepts? How will they be executed?

On the first day of the Workshop, there will be indoor shoots with some hands-on, practical activities for every participant. On the second day, you will get to make portraits and fashion photographs of a model in a studio nearby. Since the Workshop is limited to twelve participants, each one gets her/his share of assistance from the Mentor during the shoots.

How do I pay the Workshop fee?

We have multiple payment options including online transfer, from which you may choose one as per your convenience. Details will be shared when we receive your enquiry.

What should I get to the Workshop?

Please bring your camera and kit lens, a fully charged battery, a memory card with sufficient space for a day’s photography, and your camera manual.

I have paid for the Workshop but cannot attend. Can I get a refund?

If you cannot attend the Workshop after paying for it, let us know before the last Monday before the Workshop and well give you a credit note for 100% of the amount, which can be used to avail of any of our services. If you let us know after the Monday but before the Thursday ahead of the Workshop, well issue a credit note worth 50% of the amount. Unfortunately, if you let us know after the Thursday before the Workshop or do not inform us at all, we cannot issue a credit note, nor can we make cash refunds under any circumstances.
