As we welcome 2017 with much love, we look back at 2016 and what the year has meant to everything that we stand for.
From the tangled nooks and corners of the Indian jungles to the breathtaking expanses of Africa, from one end of the globe in the Arctic to the heart of the coastlines on the Caribbean, from the severe, daunting heights of the Himalaya to the overwhelming spread of historical remnants in the Deccan Plateau, we have been there and done all that a traveller, a photographer, an explorer, a seeker could possibly do – love the world with an unapologetic, severe passion and help people express it through a form of art that’s close to our hearts.
They say we should follow what our heart says for our mind to eventually attain peace. And that’s something that we and everyone associated with us understand in spirit: travel as devotion and photography as art are what nourish and enrich our being and all our actions ultimately reflect just that.
Our expertise and unabashed passion for natural history (wildlife), landscape and monument photography have resulted in initiating an ever-lasting thirst for travel and photography in those who have been associated with us. The same zeal has pervaded our rentals, custom tours, kids camps and workshops.
We have striven to make globe-trotting a rewarding experience that makes you want to reach out to different corners of the world far and wide as frequently as you can in search of beauty. In the lands of ice and fire, in the floodplains, in the eerie dark depths of forests, in the mountains and by the rivers, in the marshlands and grasslands, we have constantly striven to excel and embody what Toehold is.
We are storytellers who happily choose the sweet struggle of preserving what a fleeting moment can tell for eternity. Art as genuinely passionate and sincere such as this makes travelling a timeless experience for a receptive mind. And such experiences that dwell in the past are always invoked in the present, tangibly, through art, and this power of surrounding oneself with aesthetic beauty has been the grounding, humbling driving force for unrelenting brilliance we dream and set out to accomplish.
Any place touched by a storyteller, an artist becomes so much richer with colour and nuance, and that’s what we have always done and will always continue to do.
