Even a hobby subjected to an almost-indecorum and scattered pieces of creative musings can metamorphose into a passion that throbs with soulfulness. That’s what happened with Toehold client Noah Dyvadheenam, whose unplanned hobby of making images turned into a form of art that makes people cherish their special moments for a long, long time, in the form of photographs.
Noah’s journey into the world of photography began with a DSLR and experimenting with its various settings. When his friends and acquaintances noticed an intriguing edge of creativity to the way Noah made images, they cajoled him into taking photography as a serious interest, and that’s how he began exploring more of what the equipment could do to complement his keenly observant eyes.
Noah started to learn how settings make a difference to a scene being captured. He started with travel photography, but soon began shooting for popular brands, and later ventured into candid wedding photography once clients started approaching him for work. With constant support from his friends and clients, Noah’s passion for photography began to burn brightly with each passing day.
Today, Noah has been able to achieve a balance between his passion and his profession in the software industry, about which he is equally enthusiastic. He travels a lot and is into street photography as well, a genre that works best in its immediacy, on impulse. He has visited several national parks and has done a fair share of wildlife photography as well, and that’s how he came across Toehold, when he thought hiring equipment was a smarter idea than making huge investments, for an infrequent hobby.
“Photography is a way of artistically expressing oneself; a great combination of science and art,” says Noah. He adds that it’s a gratifying experience to be able to capture moments that cease to exist as new ones come, and gift them back to those they previously belonged. And it is this reason that drives him to explore new frontiers to bring more beauty to the experience.
Noah acknowledges the fact that there is an increasing number of photographers in all genres of the art, and hence he feels that it is important to differentiate oneself with respect to the style of photography and the service being offered to a client.
“Capturing emotions, expressions and colours, especially in the form of portraits, in a manner that reflects my style is extremely important to me,” says Noah, and continues: “To me, a well-maintained relationship with my client is essential to recreating the magic of moments in the form of photos. Developing rapport with people involved in a special occasion is very important to make sure that no air of awkwardness lingers while making memories in the form of photographs. It’s more than being candid; it’s about searching for moments that are unabashedly human and honest. When it comes to wedding photography, I strongly believe that every couple is special and more than building my portfolio, I focus on making acquaintances that last long by keeping it natural.”
Noah’s art stirs the beauty of the moment, as beauty, even in retrospect, speaks for itself. And so does his art, down to the delicate nuances that rightfully demand attention.

Inspiration for me…….
I have had the fortune of having witnessed Noah’s journey–and probably have been one of his harshest critics too. I think what differentiates him from a lot of other photographers (and I have the fortune of having known many of them given the various roles I have had in my work) is his down to earth attitude and the lengths he goes to to put his subjects at ease before he shoots them. He did the shoot for our wedding, where he made the relatives (many of whom are elderly people) do things which left us spellbound, but they were perfectly comfortable doing it and enjoyed every bit of it. Even after a year and half, they keep asking about him. Noah is just the best! Proud of you Noah
