Toehold Develop – The Post-processing Weekly Contest: Nov 4 – 10, 2018
(If you haven’t noticed yet, you can mouse-over the image above and look at the ‘before’ and ‘after’ versions.)
Here’s a fun new contest!
The Toehold Post-processing Contest is here to test your processing skills. Every week, we present you with a raw image shot by one of our ace photographers so that you can show your processing skills by participating, sharing your views and learning from our Mentors at the end of it all.
In the sixth week of the contest, we present an image of Pushkar men by Jayanth Sharma.
“One morning, a while after the sunrise, I was wandering around on the sandy land where the world-famous Pushkar Camel Fair is celebrated. I saw these two Rajasthani men getting out of their temporary tent and sitting before the previous night’s bonfire. When I brought my camera close to my eyes, they looked at me with that look of approval and that’s when I made this image.” – Jayanth Sharma
Our Moderators are looking to see how well you can colour-correct this image without making it look gaudy.
Once you fill the form, you’ll get access to download a raw file very similar to the one shown here. For obvious reasons, it is not the exact same photo bearing Jayanth’s copyright watermark, but is from the same series of images. You have Jayanth’s permission to download and work on the .NEF raw file to show your processing skills.
Here’s what you need to do:
- Download the raw file by filling the form below
- Refer to the featured image of this post
- Replicate the result or better it using Adobe Lightroom or any other equivalent post-processing software. You can make this image as optimized and enhanced as possible without letting it look garish.
- Post your processed picture on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter with the hashtags #ToeholdDevelop and #Pushkar
- Please credit the photographer (this week, it’s Jayanth Sharma)
- Please credit yourself for editing the picture
This week’s Contest is open until 17:00 hrs, 10 November 2018, Saturday.
The best-processed photograph will fetch the photographer a free Canvas Print of 24 X 36 inches width of any of their photographs they want to get printed with the world-class HP Z9 Large Format Printer.
The winner will be announced on or before Tuesday, 13 November 2018.
Participate now and earn yourself a world-class print of your favourite image! Please enter your details below, and we’ll email you the link at which you can download the raw file!
Update: 15 November 2018
The winner of last week’s Toehold Develop Post-Processing Contest is here! This lovely rendition of Jayanth’s image is processed by Gowri Murthy. The Moderators appreciated how the colour saturation is maintained so as to keep the colours close to reality. Congratulations, Ms. Gowri Murthy! She wins a 36×24-inch print of any of her images, absolutely free!⠀
