This week on Sentient Snippets: elusive creature in non-silence, gorgeous green caterpillar, timeless experiences, colours dissolving into silhouettes, and mythical beauty in reality.
In the overwhelming non-silence of the forests of Bandipur is a creature that will treat your vision grandly and hearing subtly, because these elusive forms hardly appear and listening to their silent footsteps can be easily overpowered by their very appearance. Let your senses quibble over how much each of them can consume of all this beauty and grandeur in the wild.

We won’t blame you if you turn green with sweet envy when you notice how this gorgeous green caterpillar can win the hearts of all those who take an attentive look at it. Feel the butterflies in the pit of your stomach gazing at this little thing of beauty. These are not creatures that take your breath away as soon as you see them; they demand a certain acquired interest and patience, and rightly so, because you need to get as closer to them as you would like to watch all the tiny details their tiny forms are embellished with.

Listen, with seeing ears, and see, with listening eyes. Somewhere in the middle of ruin and grandeur is a place that harbours stories of sheer enchantment. If a pushkarini can reflect this much of the world around it in all its stillness, how much the wandering mind of yours can? Does listening become habitual in a place like Hampi which tells so much about a past and also the timelessness of all the extremes that humans are capable of – the power to both create and destroy?

When the last of the golden evening light starts to fall past the horizon, the hues of the lion dissolve into a silhouette against the blue twilight sky, his presence growing only stronger an emotion on you. And when you let this happen as naturally as the evening fading away into an impending night, an image like this happens as an aftermath. There is nothing more humbling than surrendering to such moments and being a medium for art that flows through us.

The ‘Watcher on the Wall’, we call her. She moves below the tall trees of the Bandhavgarh forest like she is a myth, but can sometimes be found, only if you are fortunate and fate has it, in her flesh and blood, on a stone wall such as this. Some things are too beautiful to seem real. Let us know if you can still believe she is real, even as she stands on a cold stone wall and looks at you for an instant and a warmth occupies your heart.
