22 and 23 July 2017

  • A refreshing one-night/two-day camp in the tranquility of a jungle close to the city
  • A comprehensive understanding of the art of angling
  • A luxurious stay in a cosy resort
  • A fun-filled great holiday
  • The excitement of hooking one's first big fish!

There are things only Nature can teach. Have you exposed your child to them?

If no, your child needs emancipation, a venture into the outdoors for them to feel, experience and glean lessons first-hand. And through the Angler Camp, that is exactly what we enable them to do.

Fighting a large carp or a bullseye snakehead swimming away at an incredible speed is an unexplainable rush and an amazing sight. Now also imagine getting to encounter these species amidst gorgeous scenery!

We present a unique angling camp and a perfect opportunity for all budding anglers to go beyond conventional learning and master the art of angling!

This specially crafted two-day camp is designed so that your child can understand the importance of angling for conservation, learn various angling methods and techniques, understand the underwater world, and master the sport.

The workshop will be held at a farm and homestay on the edge of a gleaming lake, which is the perfect gateway to experiencing the joys of angling. The lake is 20 feet deep at its deepest point and is well stocked with various species of carp and snakehead.

What's better, with avid angler and wildlife photographer Phillip Ross as your camp leader, you are sure to have a fun-filled, educational and interactive time. Phillip will also ensure that there is a lot of individualised attention and will cater to all of your child's doubts and questions.

Join us and get hooked to this one-of-a-kind camping experience!

Please Note: Fishing is practiced on a strict 'catch-and-release' basis only.

  •   DAY 1   22 July 2017, Saturday

On a cool winter morning, participants arrive at the pickup point in Bangalore. From here we depart for the farm in pre-arranged transportation.

An hour later we arrive at the gorgeous campsite on the banks of a lake amidst the forests. After check-in, Phillip will introduce the property while your child enjoys a refreshing welcome drink, and later we will get to know each other through a fun ice-breaking name game.

After the game, Phillip will introduce the art of angling to everyone, and your child will learn about the various angling methods, types of tackle and the various species of fish found in the lake.

Your child will now be given fishing equipment and taught how to rig up their own rod and reel and how to tie various types of knots and be briefed about equipment maintenance. Once our equipment is set up perfectly, we'll give in to the enticing smells coming in from the kitchen. Lunchtime having arrived, the chef reveals the delicacies prepared.

After a delicious lunch, Phillip will teach and guide your child on how to cast a line perfectly. We will only commence the first session of angling after every participant has mastered casting. Phillip will also teach your child how to gauge a proper bite, know how to set the hook, and once the fish is caught, how to safely retrieve the fish, remove the hook, photograph and finally release the fish back into the lake.

Once that's done, the most exciting activity of the camp begins — the actual fishing. Participants will be split into pairs and Phillip will escort each pair to various parts of the lake where the fish dwell, and if luck prevails we'll get to experience the thrill of having a mighty carp at the end of the line.

While fishing, participants can also look out for Bannerghatta's rich bird life. Visitors at the lake include cormorants, grey herons, lapwings, wagtails, swallows, kingfishers and Asian paradise-flycatchers. Fishing carries on till dark, and we return to the campsite just after sunset. Once back at the campsite, we will have a fun entertainment and sing-along session while enjoying a bonfire, and hit the sack soon after a dinner that's fit for kings.

  •   DAY 2   23 July, Sunday

We awake to the sweet calls of the birds found within the campsite and walk out of our rooms to watch the mist rising over the lake and the sun rays lighting up the surrounding forests. It's now time to grab our fishing rods and bait, and head down to the water's edge. This is a long angling session and we hope to catch many big fish. After working up an appetite hooking onto some of the monsters in the lake, we rush back to the campsite to devour the breakfast buffet.

During the last hour of the camp, Phillip will help everyone disassemble their fishing rods as we review our experiences and talk about angling for conservation and the steps we can take in order to make a change.

Finally, since all good things come to an end, we bid farewell to beautiful Bannerghatta. On the way back we'll reminisce about all the highlights of the camp and return to Bangalore, as fine anglers!
