Ranthambore National Park

Between the Aravalis and the Vindhyas in eastern Rajasthan lies the Ranthambhore National Park as a part of the greater Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve. It is a convergence of the best of man, nature and her creations.

History and natural history jell seamlessly to form a perpetual spectacle of endless wonder. The ancient relics left by the human kingdoms of the past, in the way of arches, gates and chhatris, dot the park almost ubiquitously, now reclaimed by the protected wilderness and embraced wholeheartedly by its rightful inhabitants.

You can also choose to do full-day safaris for more time to explore Ranthambhore without zone restrictions. There are very few vehicles, once the vehicles doing regular safaris exit the park in the morning until the afternoon safari begins, you’ll have a lot of exclusive time in the park, translating to a more pristine experience.

What you will see and experience:

While the regality of the Bengal tiger can mesmerise you in the beautiful Ranthambhore National Park, there are also other stately animals including leopard, caracal, jungle cat, sambar, chital, sloth bear, jackals, ruddy mongoose, striped hyena and Indian gazelle. Home to more than 320 species of birds, Ranthambhore can also win your heart with its avian beauties.

The royal Bengal tiger, true to the prevailing ambience, is particularly royal here. It is Ranthambhore’s most charismatic tenant and implicitly its greatest guardian in all its glorious individuality.

Felines hogging a smaller share of the limelight include the leopard – sometimes seen straddling the rocky cliffs and steep ridges; the elusive caracal; the fascinating jungle cat and the diminutive rusty-spotted cat.

Notable ungulates apart from the ubiquitous sambar and chital are India’s largest antelope, the nilgai or blue bull and the infinitely graceful and rare chinkara or Indian gazelle. Sloth bears, jackals and Indian foxes; Indian and palm civets, ruddy mongooses and the striped hyena also dwell here.

Over 320 species of birds in attendance, including francolins, quails, thicknees, sand grouses and partridges in the ground to minivets, flycatchers, tits, orioles, green pigeons and parakeets in the trees, the avifaunal siege is bounteous enough to enchant you as you snake through its magical alleyways in the quest of the king.
