Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Overnight in Panna.

You arrive at Panna and check in to our carefully chosen lodge anytime after 12 noon, depending on your travel schedule. Most participants arrive via Khajuraho, with Jabalpur as an alternate option. The drive into the region offers the first glimpse of the dry deciduous landscape.

In the evening, we gather for introductions over tea, followed by dinner. Before turning in for the night, the Skipper will brief the group on Panna’s natural history, the park’s river based ecosystem, and safari protocols. This session sets the context for the days ahead and helps participants understand how wildlife movement here is shaped by terrain and water. We retire early, ready for our first day in the forest.

Day 2 to 4: Morning and Afternoon Safaris and Overnight in Panna

The next three days are dedicated to immersive safari experiences inside Panna Tiger Reserve. Each day begins with an early wake up call, allowing us to reach the park gate at the earliest possible time. Entering the forest early gives us the advantage of tracking fresh signs such as pugmarks and movement along riverbeds and forest trails.

Morning safaris focus on prime activity hours. Tigers in Panna often move along sandy riverbanks, open tracks, and shaded woodland edges during this time. As we explore different zones, we gradually understand the character of the reserve, its open spaces, rocky plateaus, and riparian corridors.

After returning for lunch and rest, the afternoon safari begins around mid afternoon. This time of day is particularly rewarding for bird photography and habitat driven images. Kingfishers, fish eagles, vultures, owls, and other riverine and woodland species are frequently encountered while we wait for predators to become active again as temperatures ease. Throughout the drives, the Skipper works closely with the guide and driver, adjusting strategy based on fresh information and wildlife movement.

If a tiger encounter unfolds, every effort is made to position participants thoughtfully for viewing and photography, keeping ethics and safety at the forefront.

Evenings are spent back at the lodge with tea, followed by relaxed photography discussions. These sessions allow participants to review images, ask questions, and refine their approach before dinner and rest.

Day 5: Morning Safari and Departure.

On the final day, we head out for one last morning safari, making the most of the early light and calm conditions. After returning to the lodge for breakfast, participants check out and are transferred to Khajuraho or Jabalpur for onward travel. Some guests may need to stay overnight near the airport depending on flight schedules.

The tour concludes with images, experiences, and stories shaped by the rivers, cliffs, and forests of Panna, carrying forward the essence of Ken’s Tiger Kingdom.
