There are three different ways to explore Maldives. Depending on the kind of traveller you are, we welcome you to choose your preferred Maldives tour package.
Atolls, islands, beaches and pristine blue water ideal for snorkelling and scuba diving.
Whether you want to relax by lying on its beaches basking in the sun or awaken the adventure-lover in you by participating in some exhilarating water sports, Maldives is the perfect place where you must spend your next holiday.
Maldives is an archipelago of 1,192 coral islands and is inhabited by people who have hearts as big and deep as the Indian ocean in which it is located. The riot of colours that you will see across the length and breadth of the country is utterly refreshing. With pleasant weather and sun-rays that will engulf you in their warmth, Maldives feels like nothing less than a paradise on earth.
You can also find your spiritual roots in Malé by immersing yourself in the peace of the Old Friday Mosque, which is made of coral stone and by indulging yourself in the aesthetically profound Thulusdhoo beaches in the Northern Atolls. Experience the rich history of the island by visiting the National Museum in Male and the Utheemu Ganduvaru in Haa Alifu. The Himmafushi Island in the North Male Atolls and the famous Male Market with its variety of mouth-watering seafood, are places that must be visited if you want to experience the true spirit of Maldives.
The attraction of Maldives does not end with sightseeing alone. It is also a paradise for adventure watersport activities. Diving deep into clear waters with the hammerhead sharks in Rasdhoo Madivaru and swimming with the whale sharks of the Ari Attol are thrills that you must experience in this marine-life rich island. If you prefer to take it easy, then you can explore the waters in a canoe. If you feel tired thereafter, visit one of the numerous spas to refresh yourself while watching the deep-blue waters of the lagoons and the lush vegetation that surround them.
A visit to the clean and charming beaches of Dhigurah in the South Ari Attol is an excellent way of spending time to take in the abundant beauty of this island. You can also shop for some souvenirs that will keep your memories of Maldives fresh.
Halfway up the eponymous Bandhavgarh fort, an astounding monolithic sculpture of a reclining lord Vishnu oversees the wild affairs unfolding on the lower slopes where the star protagonists play out their everyday roles unwittingly as they live their charmed lives.
Jackals and jungle cats cross paths with pleasing regularity, the now rarefied species of vultures, including the red-headed, long-billed, white-rumped and Egyptian variety, which thrive here, constitute a heartening sight overhead, and a rich variety of other avian life gladdens the keen birder, of which lesser adjutant stork, Malabar pied hornbill, blue-bearded bee-eater and white-rumped shama are notable, and Asian paradise flycatcher and stork-billed kingfisher yield particular delight, while white-eyed buzzard, red junglefowls and honey buzzards are surprisingly common along with the nearly ubiquitous changeable hawk-eagle and crested serpent eagle. Indeed Bandhavgarh is a smorgasbord of the choicest riches.
Maldives offers Visa on Arrival for Indians and most countries. Travellers should check regulations and requirements before your travel and probably obtain a RTPCR with a negative report due to COVID regulations.
Unlike travel agents who plan your holiday from a remote destination to places they sometimes haven’t experienced themselves, Photo Tours offer a comprehensive toehold to experience a place through the guidance of a professional photographer. The common ingredients in all our Photo Tours are fun and a lot of learning and knowledge-sharing. Besides, most or all of our Tour participants are photography enthusiasts, which keeps the group in harmony and helps make your experience focused.
Of course! Please talk to our capable Camera Rent team or mention what gear you’d like to hire while registering for the tour. Guess what? We offer you a 10% off on camera rent while on the tour.
Absolutely! This Tour is meant for fledgling as well as experienced photographers. Beginners get all the advantages of learning on and off the field from Toehold’s eminent Skippers. In fact if you are a newbie, you should jump on this terrific learning opportunity and sign up right away!
However, in order to make the most of the Tour photographically, we recommend that you be familiar with photography fundamentals. If you’re not, we suggest you join an Art and Science of Photography Workshop before the Tour.
Please note: This Group Tour will begin and end in Male, Maldives. Flights are not inclusive of the tour package. You are advised to discuss your flight itinerary before booking to ensure smooth transition to our island lodge and dive centre.
This scuba diving tour is aimed at either experienced Divers or enthusiasts who want to get certified as Open Water Divers. Basic swimming skills are mandatory. Please talk to us about it.
Welcome to Maldives. After your immigration and entry in to the island country, you will be met with our representative and guided to a boat transfer to our little island – Omadhoo where our dive centre and place of stay is located.
This evening, you will gather for the briefing session and depending on when the rest of the group arrives, you may already be on your way to learning Scuba Diving skills theoretically this afternoon and evening if you are here for a course.
Experienced divers will relax this evening and prepare for the busy days to come. This is a good day for experienced divers to meet the Dive Master and discuss Diving Gear, Rentals, prepare your masks, fins, snorkel, BCD, Computers etc for the days to come.
Diving gear rentals cost USD 25 per day.
Over the next four days our agenda is simple. If you are an experienced diver who is already certified, you are on a mission we call the Fun Dives.
Our Dive Centre staff and assistants along with your skipper will lead you to fantastic dive sites on a speed boat. We usually do two dives a minimum on these four days and weather and time permitting a Night dive as well.
Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner is on the island considering the Diving schedules.
Course Divers – if you are here as a beginner, you are separated from experienced divers and put on to a course schedule. Learners will have to watch videos, undergo classes and demos and demonstrate skills in the lagoon of the island which will enable them to be certified as Open water divers.
At some stage on these four days, you will be diving out in the Open Water on dives referred to as “Course Dives”.
These will be days of extreme excitement and learning.
One of the regulations in the Diving industry and a safety precaution is, we do not dive for at least 24 hours before our flight. So on this day, according to our flight schedule we may be able to do at least one dive if not two or three.
Tip: Book an evening flight out of Male to maximise your dives on day 6.
While our package includes 8 Dives for divers and all course dives for course divers, we will be able to accommodate extra dives, time and weather permitting. Each extra dive will cost approximately USD 50 and can be paid before check out if undertaken.
We haven’t added dives to the package which can be optional.
Barbeque Dinner – Deserted Island fun date
One this evening, we will take a small boat ride to an island which has no inhabitants. We will spend the evening under the star lit sky on this Barbeque night. Trust us, you wouldn’t have a more happier experience than being here on the beach date with diver friends and crew.
It’s time to pack bags and take a boat ride to the Airport island in Male, the capital of Maldives.
Hopefully after a rewarding experience over the week, you will leave as a certified diver or a diver with more fond memories that you create on this tour.
Until next time, stay safe!
Please note: Your Skipper may, at his discretion, amend the itinerary for the better, depending on prevailing circumstances. This will not affect your travel schedules, Tour duration or cost.

Since participants of our Tours travel from various parts of the country by different modes (road, rail and air) as per their individual preferences, it works best to originate Tours from the destinations. We, however, provide all the assistance you need in arranging your logistics.
Unlike travel agents who plan your holiday from a remote destination to places they sometimes haven’t experienced themselves, our Group Tours offer a comprehensive toehold to experience a place through the guidance of an experienced naturalist. The common ingredients in all our Group Tours are fun and a lot of learning and knowledge sharing. Besides, most or all of our Tour participants are nature lovers, which keeps the group in harmony and helps make your experience focussed.
Considering the meticulous attention to timing we pay while scheduling Tours and the local expertise we leverage, we believe that it would be extremely unfortunate if our sightings were unsatisfactory. However, since we will be in an uncontrolled environment, we do not claim that sightings – especially of leopards – are guaranteed.

For Leopards and other mammals, a telephoto zoom lens in the range of 100 to 400mm works very well. Sometimes, when leopards and other wildlife are far, and for birds, a longer lens can come in more than handy. If opting for a fixed (‘prime’) lens, the 300mm focal length on a cropped sensor body with a 1.4x extender (‘teleconverter’) is the best compromise, although lenses of longer focal length can be used to good effect as well, especially on ‘full-frame’ bodies. A wide-angle or normal zoom to capture landscapes or creative perspectives of wildlife is recommended. And since we may do some nocturnal photography, an image-stabilized lens and a camera body that performs well at high sensitivities are boons.
